| CURRENT OWNERSHIPS AVAILABLE Coombelands Racing Stables enjoys an idyllic setting situated near the South Downs. Amanda and Mark encourage owners to visit their horses as often as they like. They feel that it is most important that owners feel involved in the training of their horses and they aim to keep owners as up to date as possible with their horses progress. Monthly training reports are sent to each owner, which include possible entries for the coming month. Weekly runners list are also sent so that owners can follow all of the yards runners. Saturday is our main work morning of the week, this enables owners to visit the yard and join us for Saturday morning breakfast. We specialise in purchasing yearlings and horses in training for both flat and national hunt racing. The opportunity for owners to recover the VAT on both the purchase price of the horse and the training fees has represented a considerable saving. Individual Owner – This affords the owner total control and inevitably gives him a closer involvement with his horse and its race plans. In addition the horse will always run in the owners name and racing silks and any trophies are automatically yours. Partnerships – This is ideal for a group of friends. Partnerships can be of between 2-20 people and members can become registered owners in their own right. Their horse can either run in a partnership name or the name of one of the partners. Company Ownership – Owning a racehorse can offer positive benefits for a business. It can generate a sense of team spirit, involvement amongst the staff members and can be a powerful promotional tool, the initial costs of which may be allowable against tax. Providing the horse is not already named, you may wish to base the name on that of your company or a product that company manufactures, thereby creating an effective and repetitive brand exposure. A day out at the races to see your horse run is also a very effective method of developing client relationships. Leasing – You can lease a horse from an existing owner or breeder. Lease terms vary but it is sometimes possible to negotiate an option whereby you can purchase the horse at any time during the agreed lease term for a previously fixed valuation. In the interim the horse will run in your name and you will be liable for all training fees and entry fees but will also receive an agreed percentage of any prize money won.
