Tinto finishes third on his first run in Group company – Sunday 5th July
We are really pleased with Tinto who finished third in his first race in Group company today at Sandown under Jim Crowley. He ran in the Group 3 Sprint Stakes and finished third behind triple Group 2 winner A’Ali and Liberty Beach who finished third in the Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot! All being well he will run in the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury on Saturday 18th July.

He won the Royal Hunt Cup race in 2017 for owners John Connolly and Odile Griffith under Martin Dwyer who takes the ride again today. Zhui Feng has high class form over the one-mile straight course at Ascot and we hope he will run a big race!

The race is for Fillies & Mares over one mile, we are pleased with her preparation, she goes well fresh and will be be ridden by Robert Havlin who won on her when she made her racecourse debut at the Rowley Mile.

We are delighted that Tinto won the Betway Handicap at Newmarket this afternoon at odds of 40/1! Ridden by Jim Crowley, he led from halfway, quickened over one furlong out and kept on well inside the final furlong to win well. Many congratulations to owners Derek James, Steve Jenkins and Michael Quigley and well done to Thierry Decherf who looks after Tinto at home.

Dutch Story ran a super first race of the season yesterday at Yarmouth to finish second, while Count Otto was beaten less than a neck into third at Newmarket today. Tomorrow sprinters Tinto, Open Wide and Saaheq run at Newmarket and also Saucy Encore who was placed 3rd first time out at Lingfield.

Our all-weather gallops are open for hire, please book online as usual. We will continue to follow the Government’s guidelines and will provide hand sanitisers for your use. Please make sure you remain two meters apart and only come to Coombelands with people from your household/family. The swimming pool remains closed for hire at the moment but we hope to make it available again from June.

These colts were purchased as yearlings and were being prepared for the breeze-up sales by Christiano who produced Count Otto, Tinto and Populaire. Due to the sales being postponed, the colts have come to Coombelands to be prepared for their first races. They are currently in work and can be seen working up the ‘valley gallop’ in the videos below.

We are delighted that ‘Ahorsecalledwanda’ won under Joey Haynes at Lingfield on Saturday for the Mason Brown Patnership on only her second start. They tracked the leader for the first part of the race before taking the lead two furlongs out, she then quickened away from the field and stayed on strongly to win by five lengths.
